Yes you heard it right. Verizon Wireless may be the new carrier of the iPhone. Is this a good thing? I think it’s fantastic.

The new face of the iPhone?
As you may already know, the iPhone has been available outside of AT&T and tMobile for some time now in Europe. However, we have yet to see this in the good ol’ USofA because of an exclusive contract between Apple and AT&T. However, this contract is set to expire some time in 2010 to the delight of Verizon customers everywhere.
So why would Apple want to partner up with Verizon anyway?
- Verizon has a 4G network in the works
- A partnership with Verizon would could double the number of nationwide iPhone users
- A possible iPhone Lite and Media Pad
- It would make Frei happy.
Now onward to the iPhone Lite and Media Pad.

Lite and Media Pad
Could this be the future of the iPhone? Of course, I have no scale reference to go with this. Above the light is a concept of the Media Pad. Not bad for general computing, however more on Verizon’s take of the Media Pad later. Here is another take on the iPhone Lite, the iPhone Nano. Looks simply like a little brother to the 3G iPhone.

Up next, the Media Pad.

A Media Pad concept.
My first reaction to the Media Pad: WTF. Other sources claim that the Media Pad could be used to make phone calls via Wi-Fi, watch high-def video, and listen to music. Let’s look back at the first concept. Now I can totally see everyone in on the latest tech trends walking around with one of these behemoths pressed against their ear. The latter concept photo is not much of an improvement. If this is Apple’s answer to the netbook, I’m unimpressed. This could be a deadly move for Verizon if the Media Pad comes to life. Just stick to the netbook, please.
Back to the present:
Of course all of this is unconfirmed. Verizon may not carry the iPhone at all. However nearly all news points to an iPhone for Verizon, no matter what shape or model it comes in.
